A Continuing Professional Education Program for Health Professionals

In today’s world, many people are “stressed out” by hectic lifestyles, multiple responsibilities and conflicting demands on their time. While some degree of stress is a normal part of life, left unchecked, it can wreak havoc on physical, psychological and emotional health.
“Broken heart syndrome” is often described as the ultimate expression of stress on the heart. Stress can impact cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in a variety of ways, such as affecting the sympathetic nervous system and hemostasis and triggering unhealthy behaviors such as overeating and smoking.
Please join JoAnne M. Foody, M.D., and Catherine Christie, PhD, RD, for a stimulating discussion about the impact of stress on the cardiovascular system and CVD risk factors, as well as evidence-based stress management techniques that facilitate behavior change and help improve overall quality of life.
