The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation

The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, a CEO-led organization, is a national, multi-year effort designed to help reduce obesity–especially childhood obesity–by 2015. It’s a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 100 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and NGOs, and professional sports organizations. The Foundation promotes ways to help people achieve a healthy weight through energy balance–calories in and calories out. It focuses on three critical areas–the marketplace, the workplace and schools.

American Academy of Family Physicians

The American Academy of Family Physicians is one of the largest national medical organizations, representing more than 94,300 family physicians, family practice residents and medical students nationwide. The site states that aspartame is not related to ADHD in children or brain tumors in the general population.

American College of Nutrition

Site for professional nutritionists. Offers members education credits for nutrition courses and offers a Review Course on the Fundamentals of Nutrition, which provides all health care professionals with the opportunity to renew their familiarity with the fundamental and applied science of the field of nutrition. Site also provides meeting information, certification and access to the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.

American Society for Nutrition

Site of the research society promoting the science of nutrition. Publishes The Journal of Nutrition and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. In 2005, the American Society for Clinical Nutrition, the American Society for Nutritional Sciences (formerly the American Institute for Nutrition) and the Society for International Nutrition merged to form the American Society for Nutrition.

European Food Information Council

The European Food Information Council (EUFIC) is a non-profit organisation which provides science-based information on food safety & quality and health & nutrition to the media, health and nutrition professionals and educators, in a way that consumers can understand. In response to the public's increasing need for credible, science-based information on the nutritional quality and safety of foods, EUFIC's mission is to enhance the public's understanding of such issues and to raise consumers' awareness of the active role they play in safe food handling and choosing a well-balanced and healthy diet.

Asian Food Information Council
